It’s not often we have the opportunity to meet a president, but Thursday night in Chapel Hill, JLF guests were introduced to two legendary men of American history: President Thomas Jefferson and President John Adams. The living-history event attracted more than 150 people – many school-aged children among them – to the debate on the future of the United States featuring historical interpreters Bill Barker (Jefferson) and Steven Holloway (Adams) direct from Colonial Williamsburg. The presidents discussed great issues of their day, many of which have present-day significance such as separation of church and state, freedom of the press, and wartime concerns about immigration and politically incorrect speech. WCHL talk show host D.G. Martin interviewed the men for his Chapel Hill program. It will air multiple times over the next few days.
