Got a good chuckle out of WSOC and WCNC going all Live-Eyey this AM as Tropical Storm Hanna barely brushed the Charlotte viewing area. Even allowing for natural local interest in our Carolinas vacation spots, the wall-to-wall coverage was laughably over-the-top.

Both stations had live spots from the coast, where it rained. Back to you. WSOC even had a live spot from Cabarrus County (!) where it was not raining, leaving the poor little reporter to tell us about the last time it rained really hard there. Plus the ABC affiliate here declares that Hanna “roars ashore.” Really. A tropical storm, roaring ashore. Hurricanes roar. Hugo roared ashore. Roared through South Carolina, straight up to Charlotte.

Hanna? East Carolina is not even moving the kick-off with West Virginia this afternoon in Greenville. But a couple QC news directors are already down in their bunkers.
