Happy St. Patrick’s Day to everyone. Just to clear things up, St. Patrick is famous for driving all the snakes from Ireland. In fact, Ireland has never been home to any form of snake. This is most likely a metaphor for driving paganism from the Island and bringing Christianity to those who inhabit it. So I hope everyone enjoys celebrating St. Patrick’s Day in a safe and moderate manner. If someone offers you a cheers and you draw a blank, try one of these: “May you live a hundred years with one extra to repent” or “As you slide down the banister of life, may the splinters never point the wrong way”.
