Brian Schiedemeyer of FRI Investors contacts the N&R and lets the paper know that GCS chief operating officer Kevin Lear miscalculated the cost of renovating the Lucent building. At $30 per square foot, plus the lease, the cost comes in at a minimum of $4.1 million instead of $4.7 million, as Lear told the school board Tuesday night. That brings the cost of renovating the building in just barely under the cost of the pod system. But again, neither the board nor the school staff believe the building can be renovated for $30 per square foot.

Call me weird, but I’m starting to get the feeling that FRI is pushing the Lucent building not so much for the students’ welfare as the need to put some warm bodies in a building.
