Does this sound familiar, almost prophetic? Ron Paul isn’t the only one who’s been pointing out the destabilizing impacts of inflationary bubbles, and how government officials hijack them to expand rather than restrain central bank intervention.
Harry Browne was an inspirational, libertarian writer and speaker, and in his later years he twice ran for president on the Libertarian candidacy. Although he specialized in financial advice, he wrote a timeless book, How I Found Freedom in an Unfree World. It is available here for free, and here is a tight summary.
The ideas of this book were the topic of the first hour of my new radio show, Stateless Man on the Overseas Radio Network, in its first episode last night. Glenn Cripe of the Language of Liberty Institute first introduced me to the book in 2009, when I attended an LLI liberty camp in Poland, and he came on the show to discuss it. For those not familiar with LLI, I highly encourage you to look into it, be that to support it financially or perhaps attend as a lecturer, as I did.
In the second hour of the program, I interviewed Carla Gericke, president of the Free State Project of New Hampshire, and received many interesting callers. That included someone who had moved all the way to New Hampshire from Australia. Another person questioned us on the rise of alternative currencies.
Carla and I discussed how the FSP has grown beyond a planned migration, and New Hampshire is now a hub of libertarian activity. For those curious to learn more, I recommend the New Hampshire Liberty Forum, a conference the FSP sponsors each year, which is coming up in February.
