I love everything Moog except one thing: the company’s acceptance of government money. I was sad when the company accepted ARRA funding. Now, they want to expand Moogfest into something really great, but they can’t drum up enough private-sector investing. It is sad that the economy is so wretched, people can’t pursue their passions in electronics and music with cutting-edge, high-quality instruments and talent, without governmental subsidy. Perhaps what disappoints me most is that the Buncombe County Commissioners were told that the city had promised Moog $90,000 when the request is only appearing as new business on the agenda for next week.
