Professionals at Western Carolina University are suffering a shortage of childcare. According to A.J. Grube, leader of a WCU taskforce charged with addressing the problem, the shortage is “a reflection of a larger problem in Jackson County and our region.” According to the Smoky Mountain News:
In neighboring Macon County, lack of childcare has become such a critical issue, county leaders have designated the problem an economic-development issue.
