At the bottom of this morning’s N&R story on the Guilford County commissioners’ retreat:

…A different type of battle may be brewing between the commissioners and the Board of Education.

Democrat Bruce Davis said he wanted to change his vote to release state funds for the Academy at High Point Central, which the board granted Sept. 21. The school board wants to add a second culinary arts lab to the career-themed project, but Davis said the culinary program would lead students to “dead-end jobs” that don’t mesh with the city’s changing economy. He said he would urge other commissioners to switch their votes, too.
