Leave it to progressive Chapel Hill to make it so tough to do business and negotiate the smothering web of regulations that a guy who is “following our rules perfectly” is being prohibited from operating his business. Today’s victim of a ridiculous government fiasco is Will Pettis of Will and Pop’s food truck. I urge you to read the entire News & Observer story on Chapel Hill’s incompetence. In the non-government world, a business that operates this way would go bankrupt. (emphasis is mine)

The truck has business licenses from Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Durham and has permission to park in the lot off Franklin Street from owner Dave Roberts, Pettis said.

But getting a business license in Chapel Hill does not mean that the business can be a food truck.

“He was following our rules perfectly; however, the guidelines are complicated,” Lazorko said. “Having a business license does not authorize a food truck in Chapel Hill. … There’s a very narrow window in which food trucks can operate.”

Gee, I can’t imagine why Chapel Hill has such trouble attracting new businesses.
