There are conflicting polls on the new health care law this morning, but the one getting the most attention is from USA Today/Gallup that shows a surprising 48% of respondents saying it is a good first step, 49% saying it is a good thing overall, and 46% saying President Obama did a good or excellent job on the bill. It’s not clear how many Democrats are disappointed because it doesn’t go far enough and how many Republicans are pleased because they hate the bill in the emotional reactions question. I have not seen the demographics, but the results indicate a partisan mix in the survey of 38% D, 30% R and 29% I.

NPR provides a reminder that a lot is still unknown about the effects on people.
