The N.C. Board of Elections has resumed its work this morning — questioning Lexington optometrist Sandra Moore about campaign contributions to legislative candidates.

Moore’s husband was one of a dozen optometrists who took the stand Wednesday, outlining what they called a common practice of handing over blank checks to the N.C. State Optometric Society’s political action committee.  The checks included signatures and dollar amounts of up to $100. Dates and the payee’s name were left blank.

Some of those checks headed to campaign committees, while Wednesday’s testimony suggested that lawmakers Michael Decker and Howard Hunter pocketed some of the money themselves.
