Sunday, Western North Carolina lost a man who was a
historian, author, attorney, mountain politician, and a friend to a lot of
people in the State of North Carolina. Herbert Hyde was known as a progressive
Democrat in the State Capital, but he was also known as the man who built a log
cabin with his own hands. Godspeed, Mr.
