This week’s Rhino Times confirms my suspicions, CATS will soon have it own police force. The Rhino reports that the Charlotte city council the other night spent $2 million to enter into a contract with Allied Barton Security Services to provide patrol officers for CATS locations.

Bonus Observation: The Rhino also reports that the city is charging ahead with the idea of suing Parsons Transportation Group for a faulty design of the South Blvd. light rail line. The city has retained Lemley International and is paying the firm by the hour to come up with things Parsons did wrong.

This has long, drawn-out, expensive court case written all over it. All the better to obscure the true cost of the line from taxpayers. For the city, it is worth every penny of the $265,000 it is paying Lemley for that shield.
