Davidson County commissioners approve $2 million in economic development funding for SunEdison to build a 21.5 megawatt solar farm.
I realize the deal’s not done yet, but I have to wonder why county economic development director Steve Googe is so tight-lippted about the project, as he is about most potential projects in Davidson County:
Googe, the county’s economic-development director, said that the company could provide up to 80 construction jobs and three full-time jobs. Davidson County is one of several locations that the company is considering, Googe said.
He declined further comment after the meeting.
County officials had refused to release the name of the company before the public hearing, referring to the company as Project Blount. Googe revealed the name at the meeting last night.
During the public hearing, Googe said that economic-development officials had worked with the company for nine months. He did not say where in the county the company was considering for its project.
Maybe the competition for solar farms that will provide three full-time jobs is, uh, pretty hot.
