Evidently, it’s far worse than in the US, due to the fact that governments subsidize it more than we do. This article from the Christian Science Monitor provides a look into the entitlement mentality of European students who want their college educations to be both costless and very extended. No wonder European nations are so beset with unemployable leftist radicals.
Says one “student activist,” “The whole society benefits from education, so it should be in the public interest to pay for it.” We often hear that line here, too, and it’s quite mistaken. If education is paid for by “society,” it’s almost certainly not going to be in the interest of anyone except the education industry.
