Editors at the Washington Examiner offer a reminder about one high-profile Democrat’s outlandish electoral claims.

When Democrats accuse you of doing something nefarious — for example, subverting democracy — you can bet your bottom dollar it’s because they are doing exactly what they are accusing you of doing. That’s just how their party works.

It’s just that they don’t usually do it so openly as this.

As Georgians vote in record numbers this week, Democrats are watching their plans to preemptively delegitimize the 2022 election with bogus claims of voter suppression go up in flames. But Hillary Clinton is thinking way ahead like the Democratic thought leader she is. She is already attempting to delegitimize the 2024 election in advance.

“I know we’re all focused on the 2022 midterm elections, and they are incredibly important,” she told supporters on Twitter this week. “But we also have to look ahead because, you know what, our opponents certainly are. Right-wing extremists already have a plan to literally steal the next presidential election, and they’re not making a secret of it.”

This is precisely the sort of comment that, in President Joe Biden’s oh-so-serious view, would make most people a “semifascist.” But professional Democratic politicians are exempted from such standards of conduct.

This year, they attempted to set up a stolen election narrative from 2021, when Georgia passed its election reform bill. They told every lie in the book, but it isn’t working. The record voting tallies so far in Georgia do not lie, and they leave no path forward for Democrats’ most prominent election denialist to con her way to another “lost victory” conspiracy theory. Stacey Abrams lost her 2018 race by 55,000 votes, fair and square, and she will likely lose this time by a lot more.

Deep down, neither Biden nor Clinton nor any other Democrat who understands elections is serious about any of this “our democracy under threat” claptrap. The only thing they see under threat is their own access to power.
