I attended a 9/12 meeting in Hendersonville last night. I may have been wrong in assuming the March on DC was hollow hype. It was great to hear people talking about all the books they’re reading and mentioning names like Thomas Jefferson and Cicero. It was also a pleasure to talk to people who understood free market economics. Unlike Libertarians who disagree on everything, these people were getting along harmoniously and applauding each others’ efforts and statements. Several mentioned that they don’t feel like a freak anymore for maintaining the Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land.

A video was shown of the DC march. It was fab to see all the happy faces and read the clever signs. It showed how the train station was jammed, it showed marchers sauntering like a herd of cows because of the crowd. Two highlights were watching a lady direct people to either side of a huge pile of manure in the street with her “Don’t tread on me” flag, and a guy bouncing a sign that said “Obots” over the heads of guys posed as insurance salesmen in tuxedos with “Thank you” signs. Just about everybody there said next time they’ll take anywhere from 3-10 friends with them.

Efforts of the group will be focused on getting incorruptible people who respect the Constitution elected to public office and fighting the nationalization of healthcare, as one man said, like all those with white crosses in the veterans’ cemeteries.
