The Winston-Salem Dash opened its home schedule to an underwhelming crowd of 500 at the “newly named Wake Forest Baseball Park.”
No attendance report on last night’s game between the Greensboro Grasshoppers and the Asheville Tourists. The game went long —- 14 innings — and was also delayed when home plate umpire Koyu Inoue was knocked unconscious by a foul ball. Inoue had to leave the game, which sparked the South Atalntic League rule in such situations where “each team was allowed to designate a player to serve as an umpire for the remainder of the game.”
