In an article in yesterday’s N&O, a Durham County school official bashed charter schools for “depleting some of the resources that we need to address the student population at large.”

In an article in today’s N&O, the county manager said that he wants to put a $200 million school construction bond referendum on the fall ballot. That amount could easily be $50 to $75 million more without the support of Durham’s charter schools, which absorb around 2,000 students that otherwise would attend district schools.
