I guess it’s news when the paper of a state’s third-largest city announces it will again endorse for president after an eight-year hiatus. In yesterday’s as-yet-unposted column, Greensboro News & Record ed page editor Allen Johnson makes the big announcement:

As a matter of corporate policy, the News & Record has not endorsed in a presidential election since 2004. Since then, our ownership, and that policy, have changed.

It’s good to be back.

We will will endorse for president this year, as well as every other office on the ballot. And not a moment to soon.

Gosh—I wonder which candidate the N&R will endorse? I hope they don’t keep us in suspense for long.
