Today is tax day. The only person to date I have heard say they are not paying considerably more this year is Becki Gray. McDonald’s decided to help ease the pain by offering BOGO burgers and discounted chicken. Fast food workers decided it would be a good day to strike.(1, 2, 3)
It works like this. You pay fast food workers $15/hr, an amount requested by Manhattan workers. Then, working class people without kitchen privileges, except the nouveau-riche burger flippers, can get on a HUD waiting list somewhere. That is just as well; managers may choose to lay more people off, extending drive-thru times well beyond their current 26-46 minutes and thus becoming endurable only by leisure class elites who enjoy $15 burgers.
