The N.C. Division of Non-Public Education published home and private school enrollment figures! I will tackle the private school numbers in a separate blog post.
During the 2017-18 school year, an estimated 135,749 students attended 86,753 home schools in North Carolina. Enrollment increased 6.2 percent from the year before and 66.5 percent from 2010.
By far, Wake County has the largest home school population. An estimated 12,616 children were enrolled in home schools in Wake County during the last school year. Mecklenburg County was second with 9,827 students.
