Interesting threads at the N&R and at Ed Cone’s where readers note interesting points in yesterday’s front-pager on Honda Aircraft’s request for incentives from Greensboro and Guilford County.

But what jumped out at me was the quote from CEO Michimasa Fujino in yesterday’s lead editorial (which doesn’t mention the incentives request) where he states his admiration for the the “union-free work environment” in North Carolina.

Indeed Greenville-Spartanburg ——or South Carolina, for that matter —might indeed be the model for Greensboro’s “economic rejuvenation.” But let’s step back and remember the battle between Boeing and the NLRB over location of a plant in S.C. With that in mind, let’s also remember who unionized labor’s best buddy is, who happen to be the same person who recently expressed his disdain for corporate jets.

Something to think about as Greensboro continues its search for an economic savior.
