John Locke Foundation President John Hood continued to publicize JLF’s proposed Unlimited Savings Allowance, or USA, Tax during a discussion of tax reform this week on News 14 Carolina’s statewide “Capital Tonight” program. The Charlotte Observer published a column from Hood explaining the USA Tax‘s potential benefits for economic growth in North Carolina.

Hood discussed conservative approaches to state-level policy issues during the National Review Institute’s summit in Washington, D.C. During the summit meeting, the Gay Patriot interviewed Hood about Republicans’ opportunities at the state level.

The USA Tax is one of the key concepts JLF promotes in its new book, First In Freedom: Transforming Ideas into Consequences for North Carolina, released officially this week. The Greensboro News & Record quoted one of Hood’s recent columns citing the new book. N.C. Senate Republicans promoted a First In Freedom-related column in one of their daily press emails, along with a column identifying the link between a state legislature’s party affiliation and its state tax burden.

The Fayetteville Observer interviewed Hood for an article about a proposal to eliminate primary runoff elections, while the Winston-Salem Journal quoted him in a story about North Carolina’s efforts to repay its unemployment insurance debt.
