People who heard John Hood’s Shaftesbury Society presentation Monday might be interested to read the following passage in this morning’s News & Observer:

On Thursday, look for faith stories … and the God Squad column. And we’re starting a new question-and-answer column about faith. You ask the questions, and we’ll find a member of the Triangle clergy or another religion expert to answer some of them.

Hood had argued Monday that one of the largest contrasts between journalists and their potential customers is interest in religious issues. (Journalists aren’t interested, while most people are, Hood said.) As the N&O and other newspapers try to reverse the trend of declining circulation, an increasing emphasis on religious items appears likely.
