Gallup’s latest party affiliation survey results suggest Democrats and Republicans enter the 2012 election campaign with an even base of support. John Locke Foundation President John Hood‘s analysis of that data for National Review Online’s primary blog, “The Corner,” attracted attention from top-rated nationally syndicated radio host Rush Limbaugh. N.C. Senate Republicans also promoted Hood’s Daily Journal column on the Gallup survey, along with his columns on the N.C. House’s late-night vote on teacher union dues, the political outlook for North Carolina’s 2012 elections, and the political value of optimism. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney’s win in this week’s New Hampshire Republican presidential primary prompted much political punditry. Hood’s reaction for “The Corner” earned a prominent placement on the NRO home page and attention from the Washington Post. Meanwhile, a Winston-Salem Journal letter writer complaining about the newspaper’s plans to drop some nationally syndicated columnists urged editors to keep publishing Hood’s column each week. Hood discussed jobs, growth, and the 2012 elections during a presentation this week to the Moore County Republican Men’s Club.
