In today’s Freeman column, economics professor Steve Horwitz responds to another in the endless series of misleading, propagandistic New York Times pieces by Paul Krugman. The subject is job creation. Krugman wants people to think that we’ll get much more of that if we rely on government than if we rely on what he calls “the heroic entrepreneur.” That’s another of Krugman’s strawmen. Enterpreneurs are not heroic. They simply see opportunities to create wealth by employing resources, and that happens more often and to better effect when government stays out of their way.
