North Carolinians have learned more in the past week about House budget writers’ plans for coping with the state’s multibillion-dollar budget shortfall. John Locke Foundation experts have helped shed light on those plans. Vice President for Outreach Becki Gray discussed the House budget with the Associated Press. She also emphasized budget issues during her presentation at the latest meeting of the Southeastern Freedom Club Thursday night in Wilmington. (Meanwhile, the Charlotte Observer promoted Gray’s upcoming Freedom Club appearance in the Queen City in both its online and print editions.) Education Policy Analyst Terry Stoops discussed the House’s education budget plans for a WNCN Television story one week ago and in an appearance today on the WPTF Radio morning show. He’s also slated to discuss the education budget this afternoon with Bill LuMaye on WPTF’s afternoon drive program. Stoops also released a new Spotlight report focusing on the budgetary impact of rapid growth among public school personnel statewide. The Mint Hill Times highlighted that report. The House budget is sure to attract the attention of people attending next week’s “Take Back Our State” rally outside the Legislative Building. A Jacksonville Daily News article this week mentioned the John Locke Foundation’s participation in that event.
