According to this NCPA piece, in Britain there is a new government bureaucracy charged with the critical task of helping people figure out what to do with leftover food.
What a great idea! Just think of the economic stimulus we’d get if we hired millions of new government employees for a similar program here. If each employee were paid a “good” federal salary of, say, $50,000 (plus benefits) per year, we could get rid of unemployment pronto. And we’d need a fleet of environmentally friendly vehicles for all the new employees to drive around in. Buying all those vehicles could keep Detroit afloat.
