The City of Hendersonville has researched the feasibility of allowing everyone who pays property taxes in the city to vote in November’s bond referendum, which could raise property taxes, but has found that type of referendum for bonds is not an option under North Carolina law.

It sounded like a good, if not an original, idea. Poor government is stuck trying to balance the needs of the think-they-haves and the think-they-have-nots. Socialism assumes everybody will work hard. Capitalism assumes people will maximize their own personal ROI. In the end, humans make poor clinical material for imposing zero-sum economies.
