Has anyone noticed the political genius of the Democrats (with the help of the media). In debt limit extension debates they have been able to arrange it so that the ball is always in the Republican’s court. Here’s how it goes. After some negotiations that yield no agreement the Dems come out claiming that the Republicans won’t compromise and that the ball is in their court to come up with a proposal that both sides can “work with.” The Republicans go back, craft a proposal and the democrats quickly reject it claiming that the ball is now in the Republican’s court. The Republicans craft another proposal, possibly pass it in the house, which the Dems immediately pronounce to be unacceptable or dead on arrival or whatever and that the ball now in the Republican’s court. You get the picture. Maybe it’s time for the Republicans to take the ball that is perpetually in their court and refuse to return it.
