The bureaucratic mess at the VA continues, with ridiculously long backlogs on disability claims, many longer than a year. Add in the fact that VA uses hand-written files — all despite millions wasted on getting the department up to speed with technology — and you’ve got nothing short of a bureaucratic debacle on a massive scale. The latest installment in this outrageous VA saga:
With half VA’s backlogged cases now more than a year old, a bipartisan group in Congress last week sent a letter to the president asking that he get directly involved.
That letter, which stops short of calling for the removal of VA Secretary Eric Shinseki, was signed by 26 congressmen who are military veterans or active members of the National Guard or Reserves.
Why they stopped short is a mystery.
