In this excellent video a Ph.D. candidate in economics in England explains why the faux compassion of increasing the minimum wage (and faux compassion is what most politicians are best at) makes it harder if not impossible for young, inexperienced, badly educated people to get a job.

One feature I especially like is how the speaker criticizes minimum wage laws as an unjustified attack on freedom of contract.
