Like many, I am astounded that our president is steamrolling a socialist agenda unresisted. People have pled with their legislators, to no avail. They have held Tea Parties and pinned teabags to their lapels, to no avail.

I received an email from John McCain today. He wanted to stop the stimulus madness by asking people to donate to his re-election campaign. Was this a hoax? How did Obama get elected if not by the weak competition; and did the weak competition perhaps strangle out more viable candidates? Anyway, I don’t think I can wait four years to change the change.

I also got invited to a Glenn Beck “We Surround Them” at Biltmore Square Mall Friday, March 13, beginning at 3:30. I’m not sure how taking a couple hours off work is going to help the economy.

Action I do appreciate was taken by that great American William Cooper, chairman and CEO of TCF Financial Corp. Though his reasons are fuzzy, he at least wants to return the $361 million in TARP funds needlessly forced on his bank. Good reasons to do so were expressed by Richard Davis, CEO of US Bancorp. His words, if you have not yet read them, are a validating sight for sore eyes. The only problem with all the true-blue free marketeers taking this route of action is the second-handers will get 100% of the loot.

I always wanted to be a Captain Von Trapp. If anybody ever put a Nazi flag on my house, I wanted to rip it off, and defect to the Alps. However, big government has a way of creeping in. When one’s job suddenly becomes government funded for no good reason, one is faced with becoming a party to the criminal power grab by taking the legalized plunder; or quitting in the tough job market and winding up taking the booty in the form of a government dole. Friends are saying, like Uncle Max, that these days one must play along. “Take the loot, say ‘Heil, Hitler,’ and wipe your nose.”

How are you fighting stimulus?
