Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school board member Vic Johnson goes off on Earline Parmon, Larry Womble and CHANGE, saying they’re responsible for the selection of Republican John Davenport to replace the retiring Geneva Brown:

“They messed it up by making the school board nonpartisan,” Johnson said this week, referring to Womble and Parmon, who are also Democrats.

….Johnson also had harsh words for CHANGE.

“I didn’t fool with CHANGE because we don’t need white people telling us how to run an election,” he said.

I’m not one to say I told you so, but the notion that making elections non-partisan will somehow take the politics out of local government is naive. It’s good to see someone else acknowledging that.
