Little doubt both the High Point City Council and Guilford County Commissioners will sign off on over $1 million in incentives for Solstas Lab Partners.

Looks to me like council members need to do a little studying up before tonight’s meeting:

“Based on what I know now, I’ll support it,” said Councilman Jim Corey. “I think that this is a project that won’t come along very often, and I know they have other alternatives to look at. It’s also a type of industry and service they provide that’s not going to go away overseas or anything like that.”

….Some council members said they wanted to see more information about the terms of the proposed incentives agreement, such as the amount of investment and jobs the company would have to create before receiving the money.

“More than likely, I will vote for them, with performance provisions and clawback provisions in place,” said Councilman Britt Moore.

The N&R editorializes, saying Solstas’ request –which plays High Point off its other locations in Alabama and Tennessee —- is just “the way things are these days. And, as needy as this area is for jobs, saying no would be risky and inconsistent.”

They needn’t worry –little chance that will happen.
