In a reversal of an earlier vote, the High Point City Council voted last night not to meet with Deputy Fire Chief Martha Younts to hear her claims of sex discrimination against City Manager Strib Boynton.

A couple of questions here. First, what would the council do after they met with Younts, considering the fact that Boynton —not the council —has legal control over city employees?

Second, Younts’ attorney says she has no intention of suing the city, but if she has no forum through which to state her claims —other than the public and the media —then what recourse does she ultimately have?

With that in mind, I still predict a lawsuit.
