The High Point City Council isn’t happy with the progess of the Randleman Dam, and is letting Piedmont Triad Regional Water Authority consultant John Kime know it.

Mayor Pro Tem Chris Whitley made the strongest statement:

Whitley said Kime hasn’t shown authority members any plans or permits for the $60 million water treatment plant.

“Quit playing games and get the designs to us,” he said. “We haven’t seen anything. He’s (Kime) told us he has (designs) drawn and permits completed. Show them to us … and let us proceed.

“No one’s seen his timetable. He just keeps asking for more money, and we don’t know what he’s building.”

Well said.

Update: Here’s a 2002 interview with John Kime. The final question:

Q: When do they estimate the first glass of drinking water will be drawn out?

A: We think we can have this project ready, we obviously have some issues we have to deal with on the finalizing on the design of the water treatment plant, but if you have a two year construction period, which we think is reasonable, somewhere by the end of 2004 to early 2005 you could be drinking water out of this project.
