Matt is talking about the mellow tone of the campaign. Shuler says there is a difference between name-calling and differentiation between candidates. Miller wanted an issue-based campaign and said so to Shuler. Everything was fine until the third ad, where Miller was accused of intending to take away Social Security. Miller said no such thing, nor did he say he wanted the government to take their money and put it into the stock market.

Now, they’re bickering over black-and-white print and what was actually said. Miller said SS is a promise. He is not going to take it away. Shuler said we may not have it, but Miller said we can plan to make sure we have it. Miller is dominating.

Miller doesn’t believe in sending jobs overseas. He is not associated with the Chinese Chamber of Commerce. Heath is saying Carl Rove and Dick Armey are funding Miller.
