We’ve been barraged by celebrities and others who want us to believe that Hurricane intensity as of late is “proof” of global warming. In light of Prof. Michaels appearance here at Locke and moments ago on WPTF, I’d like to point out the following from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) with some 2005 data from the Weather Channel:

Total number of Cat-4 storms that have made US landfall since 1850: 19

Total number of Cat-5 (the most deadly) storms that have made US landfall since 1850: 3

Total number of Cat-4 storms that hit the US coast prior from 1850-1960: 15

Since 1960: 4

Only 1 Cat-5 storm has hit the US coast since 1970: Andrew in 1992
