Ok, Stimulus funds coming to WNC…from the Citizen-Times:

Contracts have been awarded for 17 highway projects funded with federal stimulus money, including resurfacing 5.4 miles of Interstate 26 from near Interstate 40 to north of Long Shoals Road.

The $7.9 million contract was awarded to Moore & Son Site Contractors Inc. of Mills River, which is scheduled to begin work as early as June 29 and finish by Aug. 31, 2010.

It’s part of $102.8 million in new contracts awarded by state Transportation Secretary Gene Conti and announced today by Gov. Bev Perdue.

Another of the projects will replace a bridge on Wakefield Road over Junaluska Creek near Andrews. The $416,523 contract was awarded to Simpson Construction Company Inc. of Cleveland, Tenn., which is scheduled to be finished Nov. 15.
