Whining continues about proposed legislation to end subsidized driver education at high schools. Training could be shifted to community colleges, or parents could be required to pay $65 for the course. The course would require 85 instead of 60 hours of training, and students would have to answer 85% instead of 80% of questions on the test correctly. No mention was made of raising the speed limit to 85. The measure is intended to rescue children from asthma and obesity by forcing young adults onto meandering impervious pavement.
