Today feels like a turning point. I had supposed that when it became evident that a certain presidential hopeful’s aspirations hit the fan, I’d be singing the ding-dong song like a happy Munchkin. Instead, I find myself struck with reverence and awe.
Now that Mitt Romney has given away his delegates, I suppose I am sufficiently beyond the grasp of McCain-Feingold to convey my profound appreciation to Romney for his refreshing example of leading by not leading. McCain can take the ball of wax, but to Romney go the honors of having the serenity of knowing when tremendous personal sacrifice can be leveraged to turn a country around. Romney’s suspension speech pretty much encapsulates what I’ve been trying to say for four years, and more. May more than the proverbial preached-to choir be paying attention.
