People have problems reading the Constitution. One excuse is lack of clarity on original intent. So what will our leaders do 200 years down the road when they have to navigate original intent, glittering generalities, and garbled syntax?

Affirms its strategic priorities to ensure that Asheville is a City that is:

  • Economic Growth & Financial Sustainability – Seek to ensure a sustainable financial future for Asheville by promoting an environment where citizens and businesses want to live, work and invest.
  • Affordable Housing & Community Development – Seek to ensure a sustainable future for Asheville through a standard of living that is affordable and attainable for people of all incomes, life stages and abilities.
  • High Quality of Life – Seek to ensure a sustainable future for Asheville by promoting a safe environment where basic needs are met and all people can enjoy a high quality of life.

Yes. I read the Asheville City Council staff reports every week they’re published, and I find typoes all the time. I am not asking that we create zillions of jobs across the country for public proofreaders. I am merely suggesting that that which is not articulated properly may not be vetted well, either.
