Durham police officers placed on leave pending a criminal investigation into possible sexual misconduct? Funny how this comes out AFTER the mayoral election, especially since new Police Chief Jose Lopez has known about it since September:
Police Chief Jose Lopez said Thursday that the allegations surfaced shortly after he took over the department in September. He wouldn’t say how many officers were involved or reveal any details surrounding the accusations. Lopez did say the officers on leave ranged from rookies to veterans.
The next question: Will this in any way be related to the Duke lacrosse case and the manner in which the accuser was treated?
