David Suzuki, you know, the annoying Canadian guy who used to be on PBS all the time in the 1970s and ’80s, says those who disagree with global warming hysteria should be jailed. Yes, and he’s not even Muslim.

David Suzuki has called for political leaders to be thrown in jail for ignoring the science behind climate change.

At a Montreal conference last Thursday, the prominent scientist, broadcaster and Order of Canada recipient exhorted a packed house of 600 to hold politicians legally accountable for what he called an intergenerational crime. Though a spokesman said yesterday the call for imprisonment was not meant to be taken literally, Dr. Suzuki reportedly made similar remarks in an address at the University of Toronto last month.

This is what Al Gore has been saying too, only he hasn’t actually said people who disagree with him should be placed in custody, only that they should not be allowed to have their views heard in a “too-balanced” media.

But back to Canada. The place is really gone bonkers. The Thought Police are doing their best imitations of the Saudi regime up there in the Great White North, calling journalists into Star Chambers for giving opinions that disagree with the left-wing, multicultural orthodoxy of the current Canuck elites.

There’s at least one person up in Canada (Mark Steyn, though Canadian, lives in New Hampshire) who gets it, Ezra Levant. Watch his total pwning of a government interrogator recently:
