It’s a big day for Democrats in Charlotte today as the DNC kicks off its convention hoopla leading up to next summer’s presidential nominating convention. Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx will be on hand, as will DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Democrat of Florida. Interesting that the political party that opposes requiring a photo ID to vote is requiring students and seniors to show an ID to get a ticket discount for today’s event. My question is simple: Why?

A boxed lunch will be available for purchase at noon; $10 per person/$5 for students and seniors with ID. Proceeds benefit Charlotte in 2012 to support Convention efforts.
