Greensboro ABC manager Katie Alley’s attorney calls out Gov. Bev Perdue when defending his client:
(Jeff) Gray, Alley’s attorney, repeatedly has said it is unfair to hold his clients to standards recently put in place this year for actions taken prior to 2010.
Asked about that last week, Perdue said, “Whether the rules of the road have changed or not, we have a moral obligation and public trust obligation to really hold ourselves to a higher standard.”
….“Katie Alley’s defense to this is really no different than the governor’s defense to the airplane flights,” Gray said.
Nobody thought it was illegal at the time because everybody did it, and it appeared to be an accepted practice.
Beverly Perdue was allowed to make amends and straighten her reports out and vowed never to do it again. There’s no difference, and hopefully, Katie Alley will be given the same opportunity the governor was.”
Note the guitar signed by Kid Rock in the lede, which Gray described as “plastic junk.”
