Soon-to-be NC State graduate Russell Witham bemoans the tough job market that awaits him in this Technician column. I can understand his fear. I was unemployed for several months after graduating from Arizona State. I wish, however, that Witham had looked ahead to the day when he will have a job. When that day comes, so will the reality that his generation will not be able to ignore: gargantuan national debt due to the unchecked expansion of federal entitlements and government intervention. I wonder how his generation will view Baby Boomers when they realize the Boomers’ selfishness and willingness to rely on the fruits of other people’s labor. I wonder what Witham will think when he realizes it is the fruits of his labor that will be required to keep Boomers happy in their entitlement-laden retirement.
