Some back-and-forth on the potential sale of surplus Forsyth County property between Commissioners Dave Plyler and Richard Linville. Note Linville’s logic:

The University Parkway property Plyler spoke of is at the corner of Shattalon Drive and University Parkway. Most people probably know it as the big lot with grass and trees in front of the animal shelter, but commissioners say that developers have had their eyes on it and may be willing to pay top dollar for the acreage at the corner.

…“I can’t understand why some board members want to sell it,” Linville said. “That property has been in county ownership for more than 100 years. It is a piece of property the county may need to use in the future. I’m dead against that and I have no intention of changing my mind.”

By the same token, if developers are willing to pay “top dollar” for a “big lot with grass and trees in front of the animal shelter,” it would make the news, right?
